Positive Vibrations: Lagos Jump

Early today, I decided, it was time to get focused back on my first love, music. After class today, I hit the dorms, and went on a sample search. This time, I was looking for something a little different and I found it thanks to alittle help from Richmonds Plan9.

Anyways, while broswing I came across a great African/Reggae type various artist cd. Has such good vibrations. Two songs imparticular would be Everybody Likes Something Good (a sample that i just used and hope noone else famous beat me too it) and Happy Survival! Ever feel like sitting back and just letting the melody drift you into relaxation. Find this song and keep it on repeat.

10 Deep Winter 09

Lately over this summer, certain brands have started to fall off to me. Brands such as Crooks and Castle, The Hundreds in a way, the loud Stussy Tee Shirts, a few others, and 10 deep. Now 10 deep was always one along with Stussy, where I tend to be on the fence about there clothing in general. With some of the items I saw for there Fall-Winter 09 collection, I can say i like it. I really like there varsity jackets and crews they have lined up for release.

Broad Street Bully..Preach

"MAC BITCH!, THE BROAD STREET BULLY IS IN THE FUCKING BUILDING"

Beanie Sigel is one of the realest rappers to come out in a LONG TIME. He was the scottie pippen of Rocafella records and to this day still puts out heat with the more hip hop cats such as old record mate Young Chris, Freeway and Wale. He was asked his opinion about the rappers on the radio today and he preaches the truth...

Jigga Jigga Ya Heard

Jay-Z is going to put out a documentary with MTV about his childhood to his latest Album soon to drop, The Blueprint 3. Should be interesting so stay tuned for this.

Flashback: Hard Knock Life Tour

So I was packing for college and found an old DVD which I havent seen in years which was Jay-Z's Hard Knock life tour, the life and times of S. Carter was very wreckless and wild during this era its good to see that he has mellowed out. This is the same DVD where Jigga man caught alot of attention for smacking a female for calling him a "hypocrite". check it out.

A Different World

Today was my last day in NOVA before I head out to school. Not to sound all sentimental or anything but I saw alot of people I'm going to really miss. I mean, I'll see em eventually again over breaks and through visits but it was weird. LIke it just hit me today that tomorrow, I will be a freshmen in College.

We're entering a completely Different World no Dwayne and for the most part starting a new chapter. All new faces, all new experiences, all new surrounding, and on my own. Im 100 percent excited and ready to move out and 100 percent nervous and have no idea what to expect but I'm ready to embrace whatever comes my way and live life to the fullest. Well tomorrow is my move in day, the earliest of most my friends, and i'm ready!

¡Blah!: Ride Out Theme Song

Now this is very random post but, tonight when I was on my way. I just said my temporary farewell to my man Bingo, saw alot of friends I won't see for a while, and was now on my solo ride home. When I hit the ipod shuffle, this was the first song that came up:

No Quarter by Led Zeppelin

I'm telling you. Listen to this song, either by your lonesome or with one other close friend, don't say a word and just let the music play. Call me crazy but when I hear his song, I feel like, my life is a movie, and this song is playing when at the end, right into the credits. Listen to this song and just think about it, maybe you'll like it as much as I do...

Joe Budden gets a visit from Raekwon the chef...

For those who don't know Joe Buddens past, he is a rapper that has always been surrounded by problems with other rappers such as The Game, 50 Cent, Method Man and many many more, Wu Tang Clan member Raekwon took it upon himself to defend and stand up for his long time friend and Wu family member and paid Joe Buddens a visit with a few friends. lets just say the out come has Joe Buddens shook for now. Slaughter House member Crooked I was upset after the altercation that had taken place at Rock the Bells in Cali and went after the show with Royce da 5'9 to find Raekwon and his crew, but from previous events its best to leave the Wu Gambinos alone.

It seems everyone in the DMV area this weekend was hyped for a concert. So was I except, lil wayne and Soulja boy didnt attend this one. It's like everytime I see Mos Def preform it feels like the first. He's always full of surprises and you never know what he's gonna do next or whats gonna come out of his mouth whether its a sarcastic joke or one of his long harmonic "OOO's" but I was also blown away by the talent and skill of Jay Electronica I got a chance to rock with Mos Def with Jay Electronica standing on my left being wild and drunk, by talking to him you can see he's really into the love and art of hip hop music and also down to earth guy, too bad it was too dark to get a good shot of him vibing with me Deuce and the crowd. After the show I thought about when Jay Electronica came out and how he was compared to MF DOOM so I went to see what was new on DOOMS page and stumbled upon this interview check it.

My personal favorite Jay Electronica song.

Finally

One of my favorite and upcoming brands The Award Tour dropped some very exclusive clothing this summer, a lot of us could not get our hands on the pieces because they sold out in literally 20 minutes. Luckily the man Phillip Annand was generous enough to re-release some of the goodness. Myself and a few other showed some love and purchased a few of his summer line. Here is a couple of shots of the pieces that were purchased.

Shyne interview

Say it isn't So?

Word on the web is, that the man Shyne is getting out of jail soon most likely. According to MTV News:

NEW YORK On Tuesday (August 4), a Manhattan judge signed an order that will see former Bad Boy recording artist and onetime Sean "Diddy" Combs protégé Jamal "Shyne" Barrow receive two-and-a-half years of post-release supervision stemming from his 2001 conviction and sentencing in the infamous Club New York case.

An attorney for Shyne — born Jamal Barrow but now going by Moses Levi after converting to Judaism while in prison — said that the order marked one of the last remaining hurdles in the way of his client's release from prison in October.

"He's about 90 percent of the way home now," attorney Oscar Michelin told MTV News following the hearing.

The district attorney's office had recommended Shyne receive the maximum amount of five years of post-release supervision (essentially probation), due to the violent nature of his crime. In June of 2001, Shyne was sentenced to 10 years in prison

n April, Shyne appeared in court for a parole hearing, hoping to be released early after serving eight years in prison — but the rapper was denied any lenience. Now the rapper has a mandatory release scheduled for October 6 of this year. The date will mark eight years and seven months served; he began his sentence in April of 2001, when he was 22 years old.

Now this is crazy because about a week or 2 ago, we were at the Royer Rogers eating, talking about the Shyne incident and how if and when he was gonna come back.

Another thing I have to point out is:

WTF is it with all these EX BaD BoY Rappers going religious?!

Now I know that when Shyne gets out he's most likely not going to be putting out his thug music he was doing in the past. Most likely, I can see him doing some craziness and moving to Israel and becoming a religious servant. Who knows what to expect for his future out in the real world again, Its been a long time coming!

¡Blah!: THe Orphan

TOday while at work, I get 2 texts shot to my phone, asking if I wanted to go see this movie, The Orphan. From the previews, i thought this flick was gonna be horrible and just like a typical crazy little girl movies, with a bunch of pop outs and crazy unrealistic events. Well, having nothing better to do, Me Shane Phamlay and Jay Curry took the trip to the theaters and BOY WAS I WRONG.

This isn't your typical scary movie where the little girl is just crazy and like unnatural things start to happen. If you had doubts about this but want to see something kind of ruthless and wreckless, go see this. I thought i found it to be worth it...

¡Blah!: KFC Chillin'

So the other night I'm chillin' watching tv or whatever and I get a text from my man Alex (Phamlay). He was like, look up this video on youtube of Delonte West. I slept on it at first but then today, I dropped by my man Shane's house, and he was talking about the same video. This is what we saw....

This fool Delonte West and his cousin, who looks like Savion Glover to me, are in the parking lot of a KFC waiting for there large order to come out. To kill time, they decided to freestyle about food
The videos kind of long but enjoy!

Summer Beef

First on the menu for this Summer's Beef would be Dj Drama and Young Jeezy. When I think about this one, I guess you could see it coming. A few years back Dj Drama and Young Jeezy were almost a duo. With the Trap or Die mixtape and what not, there was a time when Jeezy was one of the top gunners on the mixtape scene. In the past year or so though things have changed. Jeezys no longer King Shit out of Atlanta, and his rival Gucci Mane is on top. Dropping big mixtapes with DJ Drama. Jeezy in a recent interview said he would "Slap the Shit out of DJ DRAMA"...WHY THE HOSTILITY? Well according to DJ DRAMA, the only reason they had so called "beef" is because one night at a party Dj drama played a Gucci song and Jeezy stormed out...Looks like Young Jeezy got a little bitter...

Second on the menu is more WHOAAA filled with flavor.... Just here this one for yourself. I heard this on the radio in Newport News the other day and it caught me by suprise!

¡Blah!: Slippin', Fallin', Can't Get Up

While I was away for the weekend without a computer I missed a few things that's been talked about on the web. One I thought was particularily funny and just "DAMN" was the slip-up in Philly that Drake encountered. As he is about to perform is highly overplayed radio smash Best I Ever Had...as soon as the Dj "DROPS THAT SHIT", Drake, drops and busts his shit, so bad that he was helped off stage. Wayne then slightly cooks him, (depending on your prospective on drake), by mentioning Drakes past roll on the show Degrassi.
